LSSC launches donation drive to support Florida College System Schools impacted by Hurricane Helene

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Â鶹ÊÓƵ (LSSC) is stepping up to support our sister colleges in the Florida College System—Florida Gateway College, North Florida College, and St. Petersburg College—that were more severely impacted by the storm.

LSSC was fortunate to have experienced minimal damage, but many students and employees at these institutions are facing significant challenges in the storm’s recovery.

To show our solidarity and support students as they continue to work toward their educational goals, LSSC is organizing a college-wide donation drive to collect essential items for the students at these colleges.

The public is invited to join us in this effort to support students in need across Florida.

Please bring all donations by Friday, October 4 at 9:00 a.m., to ensure timely delivery to the affected colleges.

The following items are being collected:

  • Toiletry items (toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap (bar or liquid), shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, disposable razors, shaving cream, tissues, hair brushes/combs, sunscreen, etc.)
  • Cleaning supplies (multi-surface cleaners, disinfectant wipes, disinfectant spray, brooms/dustpans, mops/mop buckets, sponges, scrub brushes, cleaning cloths, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc.)
  • Non-perishable food items that do not require a can opener

Items can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • LSSC Leesburg – Student Services Building Lobby or Science-Math Building Lobby (9501 U.S. Highway 441, Leesburg)
  • LSSC South Lake – Building 2 Lobby by Enrollment Services or Science-Health Building Lobby (1250 N. Hancock Rd., Clermont)
  • LSSC Sumter – Building 4 Lobby (1423 County Road 526A, Sumterville)
  • LSSC Four Corners – Main Lobby (16744 Cagan Crossings Blvd, Clermont)
